Pricing

Simple, predictable, no per-user tax

Portainer-Run is licensed on the workload nodes it runs on, not on the number of builders using it or the number of viewers using the apps. Unlimited builders. Unlimited viewers. You pay for the cluster capacity you already run.

What is in the box

One license, everything you need to stand it up in production

A single Portainer-Run license covers the whole surface: the self-service add-on, the Portainer Business control plane underneath, and support for the two Kubernetes distributions we bundle when a customer wants us to bring the cluster too. Everything below is included; nothing is a paid upgrade later.

Portainer-Run License

Everything, one license

Priced on workload nodes. Talk to us for a quote for your environment.

Talk to us for pricingQuotes are shaped around node count, support tier, and whether you bring your own Kubernetes or want us to bundle it.
  • Portainer-Run add-on for unlimited builders and unlimited internal or external application viewers. No per-seat charge on either side.
  • Portainer Business Edition, the operator control plane underneath. Licensed on the workload nodes that host the vibe-coded apps.
  • KubeSolo support, when you deploy the single-node appliance mode and want us to back the underlying Kubernetes.
  • Talos Linux support, when you ask us to bundle the Kubernetes cluster underneath rather than bringing your own.
  • 9x5 support included as standard. 24x7 uplift and premium tiers are available on request.

Fast path from zero to running

One installer stands the whole stack up

If you do not already run Portainer Business, the terminal installer stands up KubeSolo, Portainer Business, and Portainer-Run on a single VM in one go. If you already run Portainer Business 2.44 or later, the add-on turns on from inside the UI in a couple of minutes.

Full technical detail

# Appliance mode # Stands up KubeSolo + Portainer Business + Portainer-Run curl -sfL https://get.portainer-run.portainer.ai/get.sh \ | sudo sh - # Already on Portainer Business 2.44+? # Turn on the add-on from inside the UI.

How the license scales

The dial is workload nodes, not people

The one variable that shapes a quote is how much cluster capacity you want Run's deployments to consume. Everything else is fixed. This keeps the model boring on purpose: no per-user tax that punishes success, no viewer license that punishes reach, and no hidden edition tier that hides features behind a bigger contract.

Priced on
Workload nodes in the Kubernetes cluster(s) where deployed apps run.
Not priced on
Builders, viewers, deployed applications, deployments per month, or environments managed.
Portainer Business
Included. Version 2.44 or later is required for the add-on.
Bundled Kubernetes
KubeSolo for the single-node appliance; Talos for a cluster we bundle. Either is included when you ask for it. Bringing your own Kubernetes is fully supported and equally valid.
Support
9x5 as standard. 24x7 and premium options available on request.
Air-gapped
Supported. Portainer Business is deployed in regulated, distributed, and air-gapped environments across the Fortune 2000.
Do you charge per builder or per viewer?

No. Unlimited builders on the deploy side and unlimited internal or external viewers on the application access side. The license is on the workload nodes.

Do we need to license Portainer Business separately?

No. The Portainer Business license is part of the Portainer-Run license. One line item, one quote, one renewal.

Is there a free way to evaluate Portainer-Run?

Yes. Portainer Business is free for up to three nodes, add-ons included, so you can stand up a full Portainer-Run environment on your own lab or a small cluster without a purchase. This is Business Edition on a free tier, not Community Edition; Community Edition does not run add-ons. When you move past three nodes you stay on the same Business Edition and pay for the additional workload nodes, and the add-on, the manifests, and the Git target you set up already carry across unchanged.

What if we want you to bring the Kubernetes cluster too?

Ask for the bundled option. We deploy either KubeSolo (for a single-node appliance) or Talos Linux (for a cluster) as part of the installation, and support for that Kubernetes distribution is included in the license. Bringing your own cluster is equally supported and does not change the price shape.

Is 24x7 support available?

Yes. 9x5 is standard; 24x7 and premium tiers are available on request and priced as an uplift on the base license.

Does the price include the graduation path to Portainer-IDP?

Portainer-IDP is a sister product for the development team; it is licensed separately when you are ready to graduate proven apps to a full DevOps ownership model. Ask us to include it in the same quote when you scope the briefing.

Tell us the shape, we will send a quote

A short briefing is the quickest way to a real number: how many nodes, whether you are bringing your own Kubernetes, and which support tier you want. We will scope it and come back with pricing.
